Purple's Got Mojo

These are a few of my favorite things: damask, flowers, and buttons... this card has them all! Plus this purple card has mojo - Mojo 98 to be exact. It's also part of my Purple Series.

My Perfect Plum card base is cut 7" x 10" and scored in half. Using the damask image from Friends 24-7 I stamped in Perfect Plum onto Pale Plum card stock to create my own background paper. HINT: The Holiday Mini (debuting September 1st) includes Designer Series Paper with a fabulous damask design.
  • I stamped the entire sheet of card stock using my Stamp-a-ma-jig and then trimmed a 5.5" x 4.75" section. I mounted this onto a So Saffron matte.
  • A 3.5" square was cut from Plum Perfect and zipped through my Big Shot using the Venetian Lace Cuttlebug embossing folder. TIP: Texturz Impressions Pads ensure a deep impression and perfect result.
  • My Circle Scissor Plus is the perfect tool for creating circles. I layered it with the scalloped circle from the Scallop #2 Bigz Die. The So Saffron print is from the (retired) Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper collection.
  • A Rose is A Rose was still sitting in my stamping area from PPA1 at Pals Paper Arts. TIP: Didn't have time to play last week? Tomorrow, Thursday, August 6th, a brand new challenge will be posted - A Simple Sketch. I hope you can play along!
  • The base color of my rose was stamped in Pale Plum -- the accent color is Perfect Plum. (Can you say all these purple colors 3 times fast?) The leaves are inked in Mellow Moss. I always stamp two of the large roses and then cut one down to layer and add extra dimension. Stampin' Dimensionals are this girl's best friend!
  • For a little bit of bling pearl stick-ons were added. To tie everything up: So Saffron Grosgrain, complete with a Button Latte middle. TIP: During the month of August you can earn FREE buttons with any $35 or more purchase in stamps from the Growing Up section of the catalog. Click here for more details.
  • Today's sassy something: my sentiment. I used the (retired) Tags So Much set to quickly add a sweet sentiment. TIP: All you need for your own sassy sentiment is a Tag Punch. (available in small or large)

ANYA-versary & Purple Series 2

Happy ANYA-versary! The Greeting Farm is celebrating one year of business - one year of adorable Anya's and Ian's - one year of being fabulous! I decided to take part in the blog hop for several reasons: a party is always FUN, to showcase Stampin' Up! Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper, and bonus - to have a reason to try out my new Copic markers.
  • My Rich Razzleberry card base is cut to standard size and layered with Orchid Opulence and a polka-dot selection from Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper. The purples in this paper collection are wonderful - a perfect fit for this week's Our Creative Corner challenge.
  • I zipped the Oval Scallop Frame Bigz Die through my Big Shot with 2 prints from Cottage Wall. I love how the purple stripes are on a bias - so sassy (and a totally wonderful accident). Using Stampin' Dimensionals I 'popped' the frame for the scalloped oval.
  • Miss. Anya was stamped onto Whisper White with Palette Ink and heat set. I opted to paper piece her outfit. A polka-dot top and Orchid Opulence shorts seemed just right for a day of shopping. Her bags of goodies are also paper pieced using Kraft, Chocolate Chip, and another snippet of Cottage Wall DP. The rest of Anya is colored with Copics. There's a first time for everything! How did I do??
  • Is there anything more sassy than rhinestones? I think not! Green 'gems' adorn Miss. Anya's hair bow and shoes. I also added a few to the upper corner. What can I say -- I'm a girl that loves a little sparkle!
  • A few paper blossoms with button middles are my favorite sassy somethings today. The sentiment, 'classy and fabulous' is part of Coco Chanel's famous saying, "A girl should be two things... classy and fabulous". My mom is definitely both of these things, and I promise I've seen pictures of her during high school years with this exact hair-do. All in all this is the perfect card to wish my mom (and The Greeting Farm) a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Debut of Pals Paper Arts!

I am thrilled to welcome you not only to Sassy Stampin' but also to introduce you to Pals Paper Arts! Myself and my stampin' Pals have been working non-stop to create this unique site for Paper Arts Challenges. We'll be using exclusively Stampin' Up! products, but we encourage participants to just PLAY - any and all brands of supplies and stamps are welcome! This week we're hosting a Color Challenge:
  • A Melon Mambo card base (standard) gets thing started and is topped with 2 layers of card stock: Bermuda Bay and Chocolate Chip. A patterned Bermuda layer from the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper collection adds a bit of swirly (and sassy) delight.
  • I zipped a piece of Chocolate Chip polka-dots through my Big Shot using the Top Note die... I love this shape!
  • Melon Mambo Polka-Dot Grosgrain (I opted for the solid side of this fabulous reversible ribbon) runs across the bottom and is accented with two Chocolate Chip Corduroy Brads... today's sassy somethings.
  • I adore the Rose is a Rose stamp set. I chose it when I joined Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator as part of my Starter Kit and have been in love ever since. A Rose Is A Rose is a 2-Step Stampin' set. (There is a base stamp as well as a 'shadow' stamp for each of the images.) I inked the base rose image in Regal Rose and stamped it onto Whisper White. Then, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I lined up the images and stamped the second layer in Melon Mambo. This same process was repeated for the buds. TIP: Baby wipes are perfect for cleaning your Stamp-a-ma-Jig and keeping all that ink off your hands! Of course, with a 9 month old in the house, I always have a ready supply.
  • Stampin' Dimensionals were used to pop my flowers. I even trimmed a portion of a large rose to layer and 'pop' -- the added dimension is stunning! I only used the base image for the leaves - Bermuda Bay on Whisper White.
  • A quick sentiment courtesy of Matchbox Messages completes the card. It was stamped in Chocolate Chip onto Kraft card stock and punched using the 1.25" Circle Punch. A Scallop Circle in Bermuda Bay highlights the sentiment. For the final touch, a bright pink button from my 'button bin' accents the floral bouquet.
Now, head on over to Pals Paper Arts to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations and get ALL the details on how YOU can participate in this week's Color Challenge.

Purple Series - 1

My mother is my biggest fan. I can always count on her to 'oooh and ahhh' over my cards. She especially loves anything with the color purple incorporated. (I literally cheered in mom's honor when Stampin' Up! announced the In Colors included Rich Razzleberry!) Her birthday is right around the corner, and I wanted to make her a set of purple cards she can use for a variety of occasions. With that thought in mind, I'm kicking off a Purple Series here on Sassy Stampin'.
  • I started with a standard A2 Rich Razzleberry card base matted with a piece of Old Olive. I opted for Patterns Designer Series Paper today in three colors: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Rich Razzleberry.
  • The Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry layers are each 'sassed up' with the Scallop Edge Punch. A strip of Rich Razzleberry Polka-Dot Grosgrain hides the 'seam' between the white based pattern and the Old Olive. TIP: The NEW In Color ribbon is reversible - solid on one side, polka-dots on the other. Can you say versatile?
  • I inked the dove from Special Blessings in Rich Razzleberry and stamped onto Whisper White. TIP: I love how the floral print on the dove coordinates with the floral patterned paper. Details, details. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, I popped the dove onto a piece of Crushed Curry with a small, subtle pattern. (1.75" x 2.5")
  • The sentiment, 'May God bless you...' is stamped in Rich Razzleberry and mounted onto a thin strip of Crushed Curry. A sassy 'v' on one end builds interest.
  • To add a little more Crushed Curry, I opted for a Scallop Edge border where my card opens. Can you tell I was in a bit of a scallop frenzy? I like how they unify the project.
  • Today's sassy somethings are the beautiful paper flowers (Spare Parts) I picked up at my local craft store. They are paired with buttons from the Playground Button collection. I sewed the buttons on using Linen Thread and adhered the flowers to my card base with Pop-Up Glue Dots. TIP: The More Mustard button included with the Playground Buttons is a perfect match for Crushed Curry.
Thursday, July 30th -- 5:00 am CST

Ready, Set, Rub-On

Sometimes a Rub-On is just the thing I need to get myself going. The NEW Idea Book and Catalog is full of new Rub-On sets - perfect for quick cards and embellishments.
  • Today's sassy little number starts with a Chocolate Chip card base cut to 4" x 8" and scored. I used my 3/16" Corner Rounder for the corners at the fold.
  • Scallops are a hot trend these days. I opted for a sassy twist: Using my 1.25" Circle Punch I popped 4 Ruby Red circles out and adhered them to my card - allowing half of the circle to hang off the edge.
  • A 3" x 3.25" piece of Chocolate Chip pattern was cut and matted using Ruby Red. Both layers received the Corner Rounder 'treatment'.
  • Adhering a strip of Double-Stitch Grosgrain across the bottom turns my circles into darling scallops. TIP: Before adding the ribbon I used my paper trimmer to make sure my sides were even and trim down the 'hang-over'. I layered a piece of Pretty in Pink Grosgrain on top of the wide Chocolate Chip. TIP: Mini Glue Dots are the perfect solution for keeping ribbon in place.
  • A floral rub-on from the Dots and Designs pack looks perfect on Kraft Cardstock. I used my Marvy scallop square punch (pink) to crop the image. Stampin' Dimensionals make the flower pop when added to a Pretty in Pink base with rounded edges. (2" square)
  • A skinny strip of Kraft cardstock was cut to 4.5" and trimmed to a 'v' at one end. The sweet sentiment is also a rub-on, this time courtesy of the Chit-Chat pack. I selected Antique Brass brads from the Vintage Brads collection and used them to adhere the strip. TIP: Instead of laying the strip down flat with adhesive I opted to lightly curve the strip using my fingers and rounding it. Pretend your fingers are scissors and use them in the same way you would use scissors to curl ribbon for a package.
  • A few more Stampin' Dimensionals make the floral image catch your eye. The image is adhered slightly off-center to make room for the sweet sentiment to be noticed.
  • Last, my favorite embellishment, buttons, dress up the bottom border. TIP: I use Linen Thread to tie through my button holes. It's got a thickness that is 'just right' and is very easy to work with. Plus, I love the way it coordinates with the Kraft cardstock in this project.
Rub-Ons: Dots and Designs (115728), Chit-Chat (111804)
Paper: Chocolate Chip (102128), Ruby Red (102030), Pretty in Pink (100459), Kraft (102125), Chocolate Chip Patterns Pack (112164)

Must-Haves: Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Sassy Somethings: Button Latte (114333), Chocolate Chip Double-Stitch Grosgrain (111849), Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain (109032), Linen Thread (104199), Vintage Brads (109109)

Tween-tastic

We got to spend some time with extended family this weekend... a blessing in the middle of this crazy summer. My tween-aged niece is absolutely in love with the Twilight series and delights in all things Edward. When I won this fab (and aptly named) Edward stamp from The Greeting Farm, I knew exactly who to make a card for.

I combined the Farm Fresh Friday sketch with the Triple Play challenge from Our Creative Corner. My 3 embellishments are buttons, ribbon, and my large silver heart brad... all sassy somethings.

I stamped Edward onto watercolor paper and used my Stampin' Write Markers and Blender Pens to color him in. His vest is paper pieced. For a funky and slightly macabre vibe I used the retired Rockabilly paper collection. The final touch: a Round Tab Punch accented with the letter 'E' from Lovely Letters Alphabet.

I love that Stampin' Up! has such an array of products. Even when I use another company's stamps, I always turn to Stampin' Up for my craft staples... punches, Designer Series Paper, etc. Anything you order from Stampin' Up! is guaranteed to be high quality... what new necessities are on your wish list? And speaking of necessities... check out the Deal of the Week:
