Just Leaf It (or not)

When my hubs walks through the door tonight and asks me "What did you do today, honey?" I am going to spare him the embellishment drama that I created for myself with this fancy card. I'll tell him that I ran the dishwasher twice and that Abigail ate the bathtub crayon, but I'll try to leave out how I took this card apart approximately 19 times and changed the embellishment. From a snowman, to holly leaves, felt snowflakes... the list is long. In the end, I still can not decide: leaves or no leaves? You choose.
Here's the scoop on challenge submissions:
  • 2 Sketches 4 You - I utilized the fantastic sketch.
  • Caardvarks - Die Cuts. The large star and accordion medallion were both made with PTI dies.
  • Wee Memories - The challenge this week is to stop hoarding your patterned paper... my October Afternoon was begging to be used. I have a thing for cute little houses... serious LOVE.
Stamps: All PTI: Wreath for All Seasons (sentiment), Peaceful Poinsettia, Fancy Flourishes; Ink: SU Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky; Cardstock: SU Chocolate Chip and Riding Hood Red; Patterned Paper: October Afternoon Very Merry and PTI Distressed Dots; Tools: PTI Limitless Layers Circles and Seeing Stars dies, Fiskars Upper Crest punch; Sassy Somethings: SU striped grosgrain, PTI Harvest Gold button

Very pretty! Love the ribbon and the star embellishment!

And I love that you have a little girl named Abigail, my favorite girl's name. Unfortunately my husband' family's dog was Abby.

Pretty card! I like the leaves but maybe they need to be a bit bigger, (ducking) to match the match the scale of the star and the ribbon? Beautiful ribbon, by the way. On the bright side, do you have a lot of embellishments ready to go fot other cards? :)

I like the leaves - adds interest I think. And I think the card would have turned out beautiful no matter what because that ribbon rocks.

19 times?? wow, you ARE papercrafter hear you roar!! :-). I say no leaves or bigger leaves. another poster said it right- they need to be bigger in scale. but, that is a super awesome card w/o them!!

Beautiful card!!!! But...... No leaves!!!! There is a lot going on in this card with the houses, etc. so, no leaves is best. Love it!!!!!

I vote no leaves, but if I saw it only WITH leaves, I'd love it, too! Great job, Denise. Sometimes we just over think our creations, but in the end, it's always worth it!

So pretty! LOVE the leaves :) (It ties the green, from the patterned paper, to the left side of the card to create such harmonious balance.) and that gorgeous, scrunched ribbon! Thanks for playing along with Wee Memories' Scrappy Saturday Challenge!

Both of your cards are beautiful, Denise! I just love the ribbon. I also like the leaf detail. It really draws your eye into the card and seems more complete. A suggestion might be to try stamping it in a slightly lighter shade or add white glitter, if you are not sure about it. It might soften it up a bit.

I so know what you mean about cards giving you a hard time. The card I posted to my blog recently was the same way. I kept moving stuff around and it was such a challenge!

This is fantastic! LOVE your use of pp...personally, I prefer it without the leaves. I think there's enough going on already that the leaves aren't needed.

Thanks for playing at Wee Memories this week!
