Play Date Cafe #97

I'm departing a bit from prim & proper, shabby is getting abandoned for the day, ribbons and bows are on standby... all for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.

We are being sponsored this week by Tradefish Designs and I had a punny birthday set to create with: Another Year.  I made a sassy pair of underwear to go along with the cheeky sentiment: "Age is like underwear... it creeps up on you".  I thought I would keep things clean and simple... let the pantaloons shine in all their glory. ;)

Lots of fun in the Cafe this week.  We are welcoming Stacy Rodriguez to our team.  Be sure to visit her "Scrappin' Queen" blog because her mini albums are drop dead gorgeous.  The challenge this week is really fun too.  It's a Color Splash challenge which means the main colors should be black and white then we add a splash of color for contrast and pop.  This week our pop is a classic: red.  Here's the fancy inspiration photo to get your mojo revved up:

My card is a mini and measures 4x4".  Perfect for tucking in with a gift.  Lots of my friends are turning the "dirty thirty" over the next few months so someone will definitely end up with this little number.   I hope you will join us this week in the Play Date Cafe - I'm looking forward to seeing your "splashy" creations!

Birthday Wishes - Tea Room & Pink Persimmon

This week Pink Persimmon is joining in the fun over at The Shabby Tea Room. There's a great opportunity to win a $40 gift certificate to the Pink Persimmon shop. Woot! The Tea Room is always full of fantastic inspiration and beautiful design. Did you know that you don't have to have a shabby chic style to participate at the Tea Room? Stampers and crafters with all kinds of styles (not just shabby chic or vintage) are invited to play along... so, please join us!

I love the idea behind this week's challenge:

I chose October because my sweet girlie is going to be celebrating then.  Plus, I just love a good reason to pour on the pink.

Holiday Favors from Pink Persimmon is such a great set for a variety of occasions. (I dare you not to fall in love with that Santa!)  My cute clown is holding a balloon bouquet and I added a little pom-pom for his hat.  The majority of the image is colored with Copics but I paper-pieced his collar and hat for a bit of added interest.  The sentiments are from Vintage Greetings.  I isolated portions of two different stamps and did some selective inking for a custom greeting.

Join us in the Tea Room, celebrate your birthday in August (even if it's not in August!), and enter to win a fabby Pink Persimmon prize.  Can't wait to see what you create!!

Eat Dessert First - PTI Hop

Click HERE for my Play Date Cafe post.

Well, I'm fashionably late to today's Papertrey Ink blog hop, but I'm so excited to be joining in.  The inspiration photo is beautiful and makes me want to have one last picnic before summer is officially over.  I chose to incorporate a bit of the blue gingham from the girl's dress and some book print to represent the books she brought along in her basket.  I also think the overall theme of a spring picnic comes across in this cheery birthday card.  Don't you wish someone would send you a note that encouraged indulging in  dessert first?

I used the Button Card die and it's coordinating ric-rac square to serve as a placemat. I also did some selective inking for the "eat dessert first" sentiment.  The Parisian Lace doily was a fun accent to help the focal point stand out from the patterned paper.

My "happy birthday" is from Birthday Bash sentiments... {love}.  And how 'bout all those "sassy somethings"... I just had a day where I wanted a little bit of everything.  Thanks so much for visiting!

ALL Supplies are Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.

Heart & Soul - Play Date Cafe #96

I'm on cloud nine this week with the Play Date Cafe because we had a fun opportunity to work with Market Street Stamps.  Seriously, these stamps are cute!  I got to stamp with the Hippie Chic set and I am smitten.  I really enjoyed pairing the whimsical guitar from the set with this week's color story and a fab sketch from Card Patterns... shabby chic and hippie chic... a cute combo, don't you think?

Dandelion News

Dandelion wishes.  Daily news.  Two sets that were previously uninked: Background Basics Newsprint and Botanical Silhouettes... now on their way to being well-loved.

This card is a bit simpler and I am still needing to sit on my hands to leave it alone.  I do like that it will be easy to mail. The colors were inspired by this week's CR84FN Color Challenge.  Two neutrals with some buttery, golden yellow... fabulous.

I'm also including it over at The Shabby Tea Room.  I added my polka-dots especially for them.  Speaking of the patterned paper... it's a new line called Sunshine from My Mind's Eye and I am absolutely smitten.

ALL Supplies are Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.

Garden Variety - Play Date Cafe #95

I found a bit of mojo and it feels so good! This week the color story at the Play Date Cafe is so fun and chic... reminds me of preppy things... penny loafers, pearls, and tea parties.  Plus, it features navy blue which is the new black in my book.  Seriously, did you know that in the fashion world navy is a neutral? Think about that next time you make a card and challenge yourself with it.  Better yet, pair it with pink and green for this week's challenge. I paired the color combo with a great sketch from Card Patterns... I love having these challenges to jump start my creativity.

It just sort-of happened that I ended up with sky and grass from this color combo...

The sponsor this week in the Cafe is Avocado Arts.
They are offering a great prize and have some seriously cute business in their store. Be sure to pop over to browse all the "stampy goods".

Baby Banner - Pink Persimmon

It's "baby week" over on the Pink Persimmon blog this week and the Creative Team is sharing inspiration for all things baby.  Stop over and catch up on all the fun.

Confession?  I am obsessed with baby stamps.  I started buying them in bulk right after Joel and I got married... I couldn't wait to have babies!  Really, who doesn't love a sweet baby card?  My friends are starting to taper off on the baby making though and I am going to need some of you to volunteer to have more babies so that I can keep making cards for wee ones and their mommas.

For a twist, I didn't use Pink Persimmon's cute baby sets for this card but opted for the Large Banner set and Carnival Alphabet (small).  Vintage trims, twine, rolled flowers, and tea-dyed satin give it a shabby chic vibe.  I like that this card could really be translated for any occasion by changing the sentiment.

Heartfelt Thanks - Play Date Cafe #94

Another Thursday so it's time for some color fun with the Play Date Cafe. Where does the week go, friends?  These 2 little ones I have crawling under my feet sure do keep me busy... and tired... and happy.
Cafe Challenge #94
Fudge, Goldenrod, and Teal

The colors this week are rich and full of possibilities.  Plus, we have a great sponsor:

Click to visit the store.
I worked with the Nature's Wonder set and loved the versatility built into the sentiments.  The outline words would be so perfect for gradient shading with Copics.  Several of the other designers also created using this set, so be sure to check out all the samples over at the Cafe and leave us some love!

We hope you'll play along with us this week - I'm so inspired by YOUR interpretations of the weekly colors and love to hop around and smile about all my stampin' sisters busy at their craft tables!

Stamps: Practicing Creativity - Nature's Wonder; Cardstock: PTI Kraft and Ocean Tides; Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye (woodgrain, scallops), The Girl's Paperie (text); Tools: PTI Lg. Scallop Border die, Nestabilities Labels 1, Sassy Somethings: PTI buttons and twine

Pink Persimmon Plays at the Cafe

Hello, friends!  It is so good to be back here - in my sassy stampin' space - here sharing life and all things crafty with you.  Someday when you have a minute to chat I can catch you all up on this crazy summer of mine... but that may have to wait for preschool to start.  Plus, I'm sure you're more interested in crafty goodness...

Today marks a great new chapter for me and my little 'ole spot on the internet as I join with a seriously fabulous group of gals from The Play Date Cafe.  To tell you that I am thrilled to be a part of their Design Team would be an understatement.

This week's color story for challenge #93 is fresh and fun:
Watermelon, Sorbet, and Lime

Combine these bright colors with a fabulous sponsor, Pink Persimmon (they are definitely near and dear to me), and we have a match made in stamping heaven...

Banner stamp sets are a hot trend right now.  Pink Persimmon offers 2 sizes - large and small - perfect options for scrapbookers and card makers alike.  Today, I used the Small Banners set and tried to "think outside the triangle".  The result: cutesy kites.  I love the patterns and options this set provides and hope to share a few more ideas for ways to go "beyond the banner" soon.

I've got about 9 unfinished projects laying around (the kitchen table) so I hope to get in the bloggin' groove.  Grab some supplies and whip up a little somethin' for the Cafe - can't wait to see what you create.  Don't miss this chance to snag that $40 Pink Persimmon gift certificate!!
